Melissa's Second Turn

Melissa decides she wants to go after Hurley — hence, her aggressive play the previous turn. She moves onto the same Location as Locke — the "Tail Crash Site."

Rule: If you landed on a face-up Location with another controlled Character, you may choose to engage either the Location OR the Character. If you engage the Location, follow the instructions. If you engage the Character, you may either attempt to Lead them by performing a "Power Check," or use their Special Ability, if permitted to do so (such as Jack or Sun's "healing" abilities).
Melissa decides to have Kate engage Locke, instead of the Location.

Rule: To perform a Power Check against an Opponent's Character:
1. Declare which Character you are attempting to lead, then roll a die and add it to your Character's Power. You may combine multiple Characters at the same location, along with any modifiers from Equipment, Events or Special Abilities.
Melissa announces she wants to lead Locke. She rolls a die - it's a 4. She adds it to Kate's Power - she's now at a 7.

2. Roll a die and add it to the opponent's Character's Power. They may combine multiple Characters at the same location, along with any modifiers from Equipment, Events or Special Abilities.
John then rolls a die - it's a 3. He adds it to Locke's Power, which is still a 2 from Melissa's "Bad News" card last turn (remember - it lasts an entire round). So Locke has a 5.

3. Compare the total Powers; highest total wins.
Kate's 7 beats Locke's 5.

4. If you win, you may do one of the following: take control of the Character; take an Equipment from the Character; or take an Event card at random from your opponent.
Kate has won the Power Check, and declares she wants to take control of Locke - which would force John out of the game. John turns over his Equipment, "Medicine," and announces he is going to use it. Locke stays under John's control, and John discards the "Medicine" to the discard pile.

Kate is now ready for Step 3, and announces Kate's attempt to lead Hurley.

Melissa rolls a die: a 4. Kate now has a power of 7. Bruce rolls for Hurley this time: a 1. Hurley's power is a 3. Kate wins!

Melissa takes the Hurley Character Card and places it in front of her, below her Kate card. Additionally, as Melissa has won Power Checks against both Locke and Hurley, if she can get to Jack and win a Power Check against him before any other Characters make their way on to the board, Kate will win the game (Kate's Starting Character Win Condition reads "If Kate has ever made a successful Power Check against all Characters on the board, you win the game.").
